SEC 8-K and 6-K filings are now available through Chadwin’s API

Companies don’t wait for their next quarterly or annual report to share news. They announce earnings, acquisitions, new financing, and leadership changes throughout the year. You can now follow those updates through Chadwin’s Current Reports API.

The API covers SEC Forms 8-K and 6-K. You can find a company’s reports, read each filing and its supported attachments together, and check for new reports as they become available.

Two endpoints: metadata and report HTML

You don’t always need to download a full report to know whether it’s relevant. We keep the report’s details separate from its content, so you can check the company, date, and type of disclosure first, then fetch the full document when you need it.

First, get the report’s metadata

GET /v1/current-reports/{accession} returns a JSON response with the company, form, filing dates, and any 8-K item codes. It also includes a link to the SEC original and a content_url for the cleaned HTML. These details let you organize reports or decide which ones to read without downloading their contents.

Then, fetch the cleaned HTML

GET /v1/current-reports/{accession}/content.html returns the report itself. The main filing doesn’t always tell the whole story: an earnings announcement may put the results and financial tables in an attachment called an exhibit. We bring the filing and its HTML and plain-text exhibits together in one document, so you don’t have to fetch and piece them together yourself. Each section has a label so you can see where it came from.

The cleaned HTML keeps the text, tables, links, and supported images while removing scripts and redundant markup. You can read it in a browser or pass it to your application or agent. PDFs and other formats remain links to the SEC originals.

Try it with a Microsoft earnings announcement

Microsoft’s 30 July 2025 8-K reports results for the quarter and year ended 30 June 2025. The primary document points to Exhibit 99.1, which contains the earnings release and financial tables.

First, request the metadata from https://api.chadwin.co/v1/current-reports/0000950170-25-100226.

Item 2.02 identifies results of operations and financial condition; 9.01 identifies financial statements and exhibits. Then use the returned content_url to request the cleaned HTML from https://api.chadwin.co/v1/current-reports/0000950170-25-100226/content.html.

The response is an HTML document containing the full 8-K, followed by Exhibit 99.1 with the earnings release and financial tables. Here’s a shortened version of its structure, with styling and most content omitted:
